Ella Pollett

Ella Pollett is an award-winning singer-songwriter and live performer from Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand, known for her soulful voice, honest songwriting and emotionally driven sound.

Blending indie pop with hints of country, folk and acoustic influences, Ella creates music that feels deeply personal while remaining relatable to her listeners. Her songs are shaped by raw emotion, memorable melodies and storytelling that stays with audiences long after the music ends.

Ella first made her mark as a two-time Smokefree Rockquest Solo/Duo winner in 2021 and 2022. She has also been named a Play It Strange Peace Song finalist and a Live Lounge top-three finalist. Her live experience includes performances at Christmas at the Park, the Hawke’s Bay Sports Awards, Outfield Festival and Cape Estate’s Boxing Day Festival.

In 2023, Ella reached a major career milestone when she opened for Rod Stewart at the iconic Mission Concert, sharing the stage with Cyndi Lauper and Jon Stevens.

Her NZ On Air-funded single, “Losing My Mind,” was released in October 2025, debuting at No. 1 on the Hot 20 Aotearoa Singles Chart and reaching No. 26 on the Hot 40 Singles Chart. The song was also featured on Air New Zealand’s in-flight entertainment playlist and included on the Hawke’s Bay Under the Sun Volume 5 vinyl compilation.

In May 2026, Ella followed its success with “A Name I Knew,” which debuted at No. 6 on the Hot 20 Aotearoa Singles Chart and No. 29 on the Hot 40 Singles Chart. The atmospheric indie-pop track reveals a moodier side of Ella’s sound while maintaining the honest, vulnerable storytelling at the heart of her music.

Ella’s music has also reached audiences nationwide, with two of her original songs featured on TVNZ’s long-running drama Shortland Street.

Alongside writing and releasing original music, Ella performs regularly at weddings, private events, venues and festivals across Hawke’s Bay.
